Pete Aarssen began his career in financial services in 1983. He then spent the next 34 years in sales, sales management and executive leadership responsibilities with the Great West Life group of companies. He and his wife Shelley have lived in several cities throughout Ontario and Pete has professionally supporting his parent firm’s efforts by working throughout all of the Provinces in Canada before founding Maple Creek Partners in 2017; an independent employee benefit and legacy planning advisory firm. Raised in Southwestern Ontario, Pete married into Shelley’s farm family and together chose to raise their now 4 adult children, on a hobby farm in their formative years. Recently, through succession, they now own a traditional farm specializing in oil seed production.

I have been acquainted with the needs of family farm and the Agri-business community, all of my professional life. My personal succession planning support provided to farm families began in earnest, in 2000 and I have since increased my focus and my training there in order to better support the needs particular to the farm family and Agri-business.
