I am a Chartered Professional Accountant and manager at Avail CPA in Lethbridge and my focus is working with agricultural producers of all types. I have been with Avail CPA for over 5 years and have enjoyed helping clients achieve their goals and fix their issues. My personal experience with agriculture started with my grandparent’s farm near Nanton, Alberta, where they raised thoroughbred horses and grew alfalfa and barley, while I gained experience with cattle through many friends ranching outfits, and finally through my family raising show jumping horses near Okotoks, Alberta. I work with operations of all sizes and not one operation is the same as the next, with each having their own challenges and plans, that is why working with the team at Avail CPA gives me the tools to assist all types of agricultural clients.
The team at Avail CPA allows me to provide producers with compliance tax and financial reporting services as well as develop tax strategies and succession plans to help achieve their future goals. I facilitate planning sessions to help identify current issues and opportunities in operations and create plans to address these, while offering regular management checkups to maintain accountability and focus. In order to meet producers needs for future financing, I provide cash flow projections and project implementation analysis to help provide future outlook for producers as well as maintaining my knowledge on government programs, including Agristability, and grant funding options. Working with the team at Avail CPA allows me to provide management and leadership training for farmers from all sectors of the industry. I also provide analysis of a producers current bookkeeping and information process and can assist in integrating their systems, so they have to worry less about record keeping and more about farming. I enjoy the challenge of addressing the unique issues that each farmer has and helping them grow their operation.
I have been working at Avail CPA for over 5 years and have worked with families and businesses of all types in the agriculture sector. From feedlots and dairies to small cow/calf operators and grain farms, as well as sugar beets and potatoes, I have experience working with most types of operations throughout Alberta. Each operation is different and each family is different, and identifying if the operation is family-first or business-first is usually the first step in addressing their needs.
