Topic: Agricultural Files that Land on a Lawyer’s Desk
Guest Speaker: Diane Squires – Smith Valeriote Law Firm LLP
The purpose of this presentation will be to provide a synopsis and discussion of some typical and unusual agricultural related files that land on a lawyer’s desk.
Diane regularly advises privately held corporations and their boards of directors and shareholders, as well as family held businesses. She has significant experience acting for local businesses active in agricultural businesses, and the related land and real property use associated with such businesses.
Her areas of expertise include corporate reorganizations, purchases and sales of businesses including agri-business.
Diane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trent University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen’s University. She was called to the bar in 1988, has been practicing law for over 30 years now, and has been a partner of SV Law since 1995. Diane moved to Guelph 30 years ago, married, and now has three grown daughters.
In the past, Diane has sat as a Board member and\or participated in many charitable and non-profit endeavors, including Farm and Food Care Canada. Presently she is incoming Chair of the Guelph Community Foundation, and sits as a Director on the Board of the Ontario Turfgrass Research Institute and Grand River Horticultural Society. .
